I’ve run lots of workshops for teams and organisations over the years. From tone of voice training to coming up with a name for a new brand, you name it I’ve created slides for it.

The better approach
Briefing, guiding and the general hand-holding of freelancers can be a bit of a drag, especially when you’re having an already busy week, which is why I take a different approach; one that’s focus on protecting your time instead of wasting it.

I’ve led my fair share of creative teams so I understand more than most that sometimes there aren’t enough hours in the day to write a brief for another freelancer.
A quick 10 minute call does wonders and I can usually run with things from there. I once fixed a leaking tap in my bathroom, with absolutely no previous plumbing experience. I can figure most things out. -

Build a cat brand from scratch
We were briefed to concept and create a new fresh cat food brand & tone of voice that speaks to cats and their people. Easy.
We built a brand voice that helps cats and their people feel seen, and developed a messaging and brand storytelling strategy to set Marro up for long-term success. We also hugged a lot of cats.

Defining a brand voice that is as unique and fresh as the food Butternut Box makes. A voice that doesn’t conform to trends, one that stands the test of time, and most importantly, a voice that connects with customers (and their humans).

Rescue from Home
The brief was simple: raise brand awareness, motivate people to send much-needed funds for dogs in need, and give customers a morale boost during the first Covid lockdown of 2020.
Enter Rescue from Home. A campaign created in partnership with Wild at Heart Foundation to bring 5 rescue dogs from abroad back to the UK, and raise money for their care while they waited for their forever homes. The fundraising target was £5,000. We raised over £18,000. And the dogs found their forever homes too.

Make fruit & veg cool
innocent's Sow & Grow campaign is one that is designed to inspire and educate little people about how to grow their own fruit & veg.
They needed to get people talking about this campaign and so I was tasked with writing a script for a promotional video that would capture the imaginations of the cast members (aged 6-7).
The results? 45,000 school children applying for their own Sow & Grow kit, multiple mentions across online media, and getting to ask questions like ‘If an onion could talk, what would it say?’

Package up a poo (bag)
Taking loads of important information about an everyday product like poo bags and making sure the right stuff is selected so that it can fit on tiny cardboard spaces.
And try to make it a bit fun to read too, obviously.
